‘Emily’ – Out 12th August

1 08 2011

The Beautiful Word are an experimental folk-pop 5 piece, the music revolving around the delicate joint lead vocal of songwriters Emily and Megan. They threw themselves into working with each other – finding themselves living together just 3 months after meeting and arranging a tour that summer with guitarist Nelson.

So far they have played over 200 gigs, been Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition Finalists, supported the likes of Ellie Goulding, been Introduced by Tom Robinson of BBC6 music, performed live on BBC Introducing radio and recently wowed onlookers at The Great Escape Festival, all as a DIY unsigned band.

The music they created initially was sweet, melodic and fragile, but with the introduction of a rhythm section the sound has grown up in many ways. Emily teams joyous and raucous aggression with sweet and personal vocals, combining the purity and humanity of British folk with a more powerful rock sound.
