Natural Christmas Decorations

You can quickly and easily make a wide range of great-looking and cost-effective Christmas decorations.

Tree Decorations

  • Gingerbread
  • Apples
  • Painted walnut shells
  • Sweets
  • Dried citrus fruit slices – slice fruit, sprinkle with sugar and leave to dry on a baking tray on a radiator (drying in the oven will make them very brittle)
  • Pine cones
  • Abandoned birds’ nests
  • Dried berries

Household Decorations

  • Pine cones – good for candle-holders, mantles and wreathes
  • Evergreen branches – holly, ivy, fir and mistletoe are popular
  • Wreathes – bend a wire coat-hanger into a circle and, working around the circle, tightly bind 10″ – 14″ branches onto the coat-hanger with wire. Add colourful and scented materials.
